Public Schools in Canton are managed by the Cherokee County School Board. Several of the schools in the County receive high marks from websites such as Greatschools.com. At the collegiate level, while not having many colleges or universities actually located within Cherokee County, the centralized allows for easy access to the surrounding educational institutions. Reinhardt College and University is located 5 miles north of Canton in nearby Waleska, GA.

The average Cherokee County resident pays only $1600 per year in property taxes compared to almost twice that in neighboring Forsyth and Fulton Counties.
